Leon von der Lippe
Leon von der Lippe works with translucent layers of ink and gouache, which condense on the canvas into light, shadow, and textures. This unpredictable dialogue between material and surface forms the starting point of his painting, in which a visual narrative grows layer by layer, branching out, condensing, or fragmenting. At its core is the interface between abstraction and figuration, between the intangible and the tangible, with his works leaving room for interpretation.
His intuitive yet targeted painterly approach brings color, structure, and contrast into dialogue, from which abstract spaces and landscapes emerge. He is particularly fascinated by fragments – states of suspension between form and dissolution, between gesture and meaning.
