Description:
The triptych GODS&MONSTERS reinterprets icon painting from a futuristic perspective. In a time when the sacred loses its metaphysical connection, saints transform into animal-sacred hybrids – beings between human, animal, and machine.
The brightly front-facing image fields are reminiscent of Byzantine icons, but they no longer venerate the divine, but rather the instinctive and the physical.
In the spirit of Hans Belting's post-iconic turn, the work reflects how, in the age of artificial intelligence, new, hybrid icons emerge – mirrors of a humanity that worships itself.
