Agata Maas
Agata Maas (*1983, Poznań) grew up in Hamburg and graduated with honours from the HFBK Hamburg, where she studied fine arts. Her education encompassed photography, film, installation, as well as sculptural, site-specific works, characterised by theatrical object staging, light, and colour. A formative experience with large-format oil painting led her to dedicate her practice entirely to painting.
Her works draw from the subconscious and imagination, moving between reality and fiction. Inspired by myths, depth psychology, and mysticism, she creates dreamlike pictorial worlds with hybrid beings and archetypal symbols. Light and colour lend presence to the invisible, creating pictorial spaces for contemplative reflection.
